ADAMS, George Gammon  (1821-1898) British artist, medalist.
            Born Staines, Middlesex, England, 21 April 1821. 
            Trained by William Wyon (q.v.) 1837–1842, he became an
           accomplished medalist. In 1868 he was offered an engraver's
           position at the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia, which he refused,
           preferring, instead, to remain in England.
          Also prepared busts in plaster and marble.
           Died Chiswick, England,4 March 1898.
