AKIN, James  (c1773-1846) Colonial American engraver,
           copperplate, wood engraver, miniaturist, designer.
           Name variation:  Aitken, James.
           Born Charleston, South Carolina, moved to Philadelphia
           (c1790). Listed in first directory of engravers, 1799.
           Worked in Newburyport, Massachusetts (1804-08) where
           he created his only known medal.
           Died Philadelphia, 18 July 1846.
