AUGUR, Hezekiah  (1791-1858) Early American sculptor, wood carver.
            Born New Haven, Connecticut, 21 February 1791
            [Census of 1850 gives Ireland as his birthplace].
            Falk: One of earliest professional American sculptors.
            Most of his scultural work in marble. His bust of Chief
            Justice Ellsworth in U.S. Capitol; Yale has two of his
            works, Alexader Metcalf Fishern bust and Jephthah and
            His Daughter.
            Died New Haven, Connecticut, 10 January 1858.
