BAERER, Henry  (1837-1908) German-American sculptor.
          Often misspelled: Bearer.
          Born Kircheim, Hesse-Kassell, Germany, 1837.
          Came to America 1854. Specialized in portraits, but
          also did statues, including Beethoven monument in
          New York City parks, and Franz Schubert statue in
          Philadelphia’s Fairmont Park. He became paralyzed
          while working on NYC Dewey Arch, 1899.
          Died Bronx, New York, 7 December 1908.
