BROWNELL, Charles De Wolf  (1822-1909) landscape painter.
          Born Providence, Rhode Island, 1822. 
          One of his four Charter Oak paintings (1855-56) served as
          design for 1935 Connecticut Commemorative Half Dollar
          and ultimately the 1999 Quarter with Connecticut reverse.
          He specialized in painting Connecticut Valley scenes.
          Died 1909.
