BUELL, Abel  (1741/42-1822) Colonial American engraver, diesinker, typefounder, silversmith, jack-of-all-trades.
          Born Killingworth, Connecticut, 1 February 1741/1742.
          Constructed screw press for coining, 1785.
          A son, William Buell (q.v.), also engaged in coining.
          Died New Haven, Connecticut, 10 March 1822.
          His biography, by Lawrence Worth, published 1926.
