CALDER, Alexander Stirling  (1870-1945) sculptor.
          Born Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 11 January 1870.
          He exhibited at several expos: Buffalo 1901, St. Louis 1904,
          Seattle 1909 before he was named chief of sculpture at the
          Pan-Pacific Expo, San Francisco 1915. Large number of
          his sculptures in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park.
          Recipient of American Academy of Arts and Letters Gold
          Medal for Sculpture, 1971.
          Signed model ASC monogram.
          Fellow: National Sculpture Society.
          Died Brooklyn, New York, 6 January 1945.
