CARIATI, Giovanni  (1865-1917) Italian-American sculptor.
          Born Naples, 1865. Taught himself medal design beginning
          1903; he held exhibitions in Paris in 1906 and Milan in
          1909 before coming to America and New York City 1912.
          He persuaded the American Numismatic Society to have
          an exhibit of his work that opened 11 December 1912.
          A catalog was published by the Society (see 101 below).
          Died New York City, 22 June 1917.
