CHORMANN, Ernest George  (fl 1853-88) Early American engraver, diesinker, inventor, artist.
          Also spelled Chorman.
          Working in Philadelphia as early as 1853, Colonel in
          Union Army during Civil War, listed in city directories
          as engraver in 1857 and 1870, later as artist and (1888)
          president of Chormann Wood Carving & Novelties.
          Received at least seven patents for folding furniture,
          aritist's easel, lathe rest, decorative composition and such.
