De KAY, Charles  (1845-1935) writer, newspaper columnist.
           Born Washington, DC, 25 July 1848.

           Infrequently wrote under pseudonym: Henry Eckford.

           Co-creater, with Robert Hewitt Jr, of medal series Circle of 
           Friends of the Medallion (1909-1915) and wrote the text of 
           the books in which the medals were issued.

           De Kay had a wide circle of wealthy friends whom he encouraged
           to be subscribers to Circle of Friends series.

           He was among the founders of National Sculpture Society (1892) 
           and National Arts Club (1899). Member New York Numismatic Club 1909-12.

           Died East Hampton, L.I., New York, 23 May 1935.
