De LUE, Donald (1897-1988) sculptor, medalist.
           Full name: Donald Harcourt De Lue.
           Born Boston, Massachusetts, 5 October 1897.

           Sculptor developed a personal style employing massive
           muscular male figures for both his sculpture in-the-round
           and medallic models. Famed for his monumental works,
           most noted: The Rocket Thrower at New Work World’s
           Fair (appeared on U.S. stamp, Scott 1244, issued 22
           April 1964).

           Fellow: National Sculpture Society.
           Awarded J. Sanford Saltus Medal for Medallic Art by
           American Numismatic Society, 1967.
           Awarded American Numismatic Association’s Award for
           Excellence in Medallic Sculpture (formerly called Medallist
           of the Year), 1979, the 13th such recipient of this award
           Winner 1942 National Sculpture Society Lindsey Morris
           Prize for best bas-relief (including medallic art).
