ESCHERICH, August William  (1820-1863) German-American engraver, diesinker, ivoy carver, gunsmith.
          Born Germany, 29 August 1820.
          Immigrated to London 1848, ivory carver for one year, to
          America and New York 1849 where he engaged in general
          engraving. He moved again to Chicago 1859, lsted in city
          directories as gunsmith and wireworker. He issued storecard
          in Chicago in 1861. He was said to have a primitive style of
          engraving. He signed wih a single E.
          Kenney states only "Civil War cents" in his file.
          Died Chicago, 13 October 1863.
