GALLE, André  (1761-1844) French engraver, medalist.
          Born Saint Etienne-en-Forez, Loire, France, 15 May 1761.
          Apprenticed as a buttonmaker, rose to coin and medal
          engraver at Paris Mint. Among may medallic items he
          once created a portrait medal of Mathew Boulton.
          Signed dies galle.
          Died Paris, 23 December 1844.
