GATTEAUX, Nicholas Marie  (1741-1832) French Mint engraver, medalist.
          Born Paris, France, 2 August 1751.
          Jung states he created no less than 289 medals. His son
          Jacques Edouard Gatteaux (q.v.) was also a medalist.
          In 1776 he employed Jean Bertrand (q.v.).
          Died Paris, France, 24 June 1832.
