Married name Mrs Richard Sheridan Gunzer.
Born North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, 12 November 1939.
On staff Medallic Art Co, 1974-1989, freelance thereafter.
Educated Woman‘s College at University of North Carolina
with art major but did not receive a degree to raise a family.
Hired by Medallic Art Company 1972, working first in the
finishing department under Hugo Greco. On departure of
Tom Rogers (q.v.) 1974 was transferred to art department.
Trained by Ramond Gordils (q.v.) in modeling and plaster
casting to supplement existing crafts of drawing and design.
Became proficiant in lettering and modeling medallic portraits,
even adding or improving lettering to other artists’ models.
Worked with company designers Tom Boyle, Neil Kennedy
and Carl (?). Modeled in clay on 10- to 16-inch background
plates for high relief medals, and 10- to 12-inch concave
basins for coin relief models.
Infrequently did one side while other MACO staff artists did
the other, including David Castruccio, Ira Reins, Robin Warr-
Hockaday (qq.v.), or outside artists. Worked in a realistic art
style, often did research in previous MACO medal archives
for inspiration in creating new medal designs.
Left Medallic Art employ in 1989 to freelance but continued
to prepared models for succesors, Recognition Products and
Protocol Group owned by prior MACO president. Established
LMG Studios ( ) for commissioned medallic work.
Prepared models for Medal Craft, Northwest Territorial Mint
(qq.v), others. This continued even after moving to Florida, 19??.
Signed some but not all models GG in lower case letters.
