HILDEBRAND, Adolph Ernest Robert  (1847-1921) sculptor, designer.
          Born Marburg, Hesse, Germany, 6 October 1847.
          Studied art in Munich, went to Italy 1867 and 1872 studying
          classical Italian masters, member of art group called “German
          Romans.” He achieved success in Berlin and Vienna creating
          monuments. He wrote book The Problem of Form on sculpture
          aesthetics. Perhaps one of the two items below is the unknown
          commemorative medal he designed (1895) mentioned in
          The Collector, referenced below.
          Died Munich, Germany, 18 August 1921.
