HUMPHRIES, G.C. [full name & dates unknown] artist, designer.
Loubat's only data on this artist was he died in London.
Humphries's designs of six battle scenes from Mexican
War incorporated as vignettes surrounding a central
view in highly detailed design. Medal has two artist's
           signatures on each side!

[Cataloger's Note: I believe this was a British war
artist or newspaper artist who passed through New
York City after the Mexican War. Charles C. Wright
viewed Humphries' drawings and decided to
incorporate six of them into his reverse design of
the Scott Medal.]
