HURD, Nathaniel  (1730-1777) Colonial American engraver,
          diesinker, heraldic artist and silversmith, Boston.
          Born Boston, 13 February 1730.
          He is said to have engraved the first flat printing
          engravings in America in addition to cutting seals
          and dies. He bequethed his engraving tools to his
          nephew, John Mason Furnass.
          Died Boston, 17 December 1777.
