JAEGERS, Albert  (1868-1925) German-American sculptor.
         Born Elberfeld, Germany, 28 March 1868. 

         Came to America1882. Educated in Cincinnati, he moved
         to New York 1890. ANS (IECM) catalog, NE2 {1911},
         states he won a contest for a new silver dollar coin design
         1892 sponsored by the National Sculpture Society. He
         exhibited at the Buffalo (1901) and Saint Louis (1904)
         Expositions.

         His statue of Joseph G. Connon in House Office Building and
         General von Steuben Monument, both in Washington DC.
         Died Suffern, New York, 22 July 1925.

         Fellow: National Sculpture Society.

         Should not be confused with 20th century French
         medallist Albert de Jaeger (1908-).
