JARVIS, James  (active 1787) Colonial American coiner.
           Established mint in New Haven, Connecticut as Jarvis
           & Company with Abel Buell as engraver. Their major
           production was the Fugio Cent. Breen devotes an entire
           chapter to this coin, the varieties, and the restrikes, but
           the definitive work by Eric Newman.
