JENNEWEIN, Carl Paul  (1890-1978) sculptor, medalist.
          Born Stuttgart, Germany, 2 December 1890.
          Came to America 1907.

          Jennewein was chairman of the committee which chose
          artists to prepare Hall of Fame medals, did 9 himself.
          President Board of Trustees, Brookgreen Gardens,
          1963-1976, President Emeritus 1976-1978.
          Only known sculptor with a full-time secretary, Mrs.
          Alica Muzzy (1907-1997).

          Fellow: American Academy in Rome.
          Fellow: National Sculpture Society & hononary president.
          Signed models CPJ monogram (4 different); one with
          cartoon self portrait (Soc of Medalist, 1933).
          Awarded: J. Sanford Saltus Medal for Medallic Art by
          American Numismatic Society, 1949.
          Awarded American Numismatic Association’s Award for
          Excellence in Medallic Sculpture (formerly called Medallist
          of the Year), 1970, the fifth such recipient of this award.

          Died Larchmont, New York, 23 February 1978.
