KOCH, Frederick  (active 1887-93) engraver, New York City.
Koch joins with Gustav Horst to form Hrst & Koch (in
1880s). In 1893, Horst & Koch, the firm of Smith & Seward
and H.R. Wartenberg all merge to form New York Engraving
and Die Sinking Company, with Koch as president. This firm
specialized in stamping medals and badges for the trade and
they undoubtedly had access to prior dies of all three firms.
The American Numismatic Society has in their archives
Koch's card, in which he calls himself medailleur, engraver
            and diesinker.

            Signed dies F. KOCH.
