L'ENFANT, Pierre Charles  (1754-1825) French-American engineer, soldier, designer.             Born Paris, 2 August 1754. Came to America 1777. 
            Served in Continental Army until 1784 (retired). In 1789
            remodeled building New York City for federal government.
            George Washington hired him to lay out plans for national
            capitol near Potomac, 1791; began construction but
            dismissed 27 Febuary 1792. (In 1901 Park Commission
            recognize the brilliance of his plan and developed
            Washington DC in accordance with them.) He designed
            medal and decoration for Society of Cincinnati (an
            organization of former Revolutionary War officers).
            Died Prince Georges County, Maryland, 14 June 1825.

            this medal on speculation, but his version
