LICARETZ, James  (1949- ) engraver, digital sculptor.
          Born Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 9 September 1949.

          Education: Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, four
          years, certificate in sculpture, 1967-1972; Scottsdale
          Artists School, forensic sculpture 1982; Frudakis
          Academy, figurative and portrait sculpture, 1984-1985;
          On staff Franklin Mint creating both porcelain and
          medallic items, September 1976 to December 1977;
            First appointed Staff Engraver U.S. Mint June 1984.
            For a time was master sculptor at Mattel in California,
          1989 and managed the sculptural department at Artistic
          Solutions 2002 also in California. He returned to the
          U.S. Mint as Medallic Sculptor in September 2006.            
          Appointed first vice-delegate U.S. for FIDEM, 2014;
          Named Rainey Master Sculptor for Brookgreen Gardens.

          Works in neo-pop realistic and classical style. Became
          proficient in contemporary digital sculpture since 2006.

          Member (officer): American Medallic Sculpture Assn.
          Member (Fellow) National Sculpture Society.
          Member: Federation International de la Medaille.

          Awarded American Numismatic Association’s Award for
          Excellence in Medallic Sculpture (formerly called Medallist     
          of the Year), 2008, the 39th such recipient of this award.
