LOVETT, John Doubleday  (1819-1896) engraver, New York City,
Born 1819 in Philadelphia, third son of Robert Senior (a
second son had died in infancy).
John’s entire medallic output ocured during the Civil War
period (1860-1865). Gladfelter states John cut the dies of
two varieties of the Patriotic Civil War tokens. He signed
his initials on only one of these dies.
