LOW, Will Hicox  (1853-1932) artist.
            Born Albany, New York, 31 May 1853.
            His WHL initials were placed on the reverse of the
            medal below by sculptor Daniel French without Low's
            knowledge for Low's contribution in the cross design.
            For paper money collectors Low designed the most
            attractive Education Note of 1896 for U.S. Treasury;
            this was exhibited in the Art Institute of Chicago 1902
            (item 233). He designed much of the interior decoration
            of Waldorf Astoria Hotel, magazine covers, stained glass
            windows, and the diploma of awards for the 1904 World's
            Fair at Saint Louis; longtime illustrator for Harpers.
            Acadaemician: National Academy of Design.
            Died Bronxville, New York, 27 November 1932.
