MacMONNIES, Frederick William (1863-1937) sculptor, painter, medalist.
          Born Brooklyn, New York, 28 September 1863.
          Created The Ship of the Republic, a multi-figure
          statue for the Columbian Exposition, Chicago 1892.
          He created large reliefs for the bronze doors at the Library
          of Congress; also sculptures for the Memorial Arch and
          The Horse Tamers in Prospect Park, all in Brooklyn.
          Signed models FM monogram.
          Specialized in mythological, military subjects, nudes, portraits.
          Fellow: National Sculpture Society.
          Died New York City, 22 March 1937.
