MADSEN, Charles J.  (1916-2000) designer.
          Born 22 October 1916.
After serving in Army after World War II he worked
as a graphc designer and commercial artist in Chicago.
He was quoted by coin columnist Roger Boye on the
U.S. Mint’s release of commemoriative coin he designed:
“I used just one soldier in my design in part because
of the coin’s small size. I thought the one man leaping
for joy would portray the glory of victory.”
Died Boca Raton, Florida, 1 March 2000.
