MITCHELL, Arthur Roy  (1888-1977) designer, painter, educator, Trinidad, Colorado.

          Born Trinidad, Colorado, 18 December 1889.
          Painted magazine covers for Western pulp magazines but
          returned to Colorado in 1942 because of cancer. He lived
          on his sister's ranch and continued to paint. He was asked
          to teach in 1944. In time he purchased two buildings in
          Trinidad (one, Baca House, oldest in city); after his death
          these were turned into the Arthur Roy Mitchell Museum
          of Western Art (150 E. Main, Trinidad).

          Died Denver, Colorado, 15 November 1977.
