MORIN, Alexander C.  (fl 1821-60) Early American engraver,
diesinker, chaser, seal engraver, jeweler, Philadelphia.

Alexander C. joined (1813) a family jewelry business
started by John Morin in 1811 (he died in 1831).
Alexander listed as chaser and diesinker in 1820s.

Groce and Wallace states Alexander first listed as an
engraver in 1855. Another family member, Charles C.
Morin, continued the business past 1878.
Signed some dies A.C.MORIN name in full.
          Date of Alexander's death unknown.

Cataloger’s Note: There is confusion between the two
A.C. Morin engravers.  Rulau & Fuld credit only Anthony
C. for Washington pieces. Levine notes that Alexander
worked up to 1860; Anthony's work begins in 1852 and
continues until his death in 1873.
