OFFNER, Elliot Melville (1931-2010) sculptor, medallist, educator.
         Born Brooklyn, New York, 12 July 1931.
         Trained at Cooper Union, Yale Univerity (master fine arts).
         Visiting artist at Boston College, Brandeis, Yale, Royal
         College of Art in London, England’s Cambridge University.
         Joined Smith College faculty 1960, appointed Andrew W.
         Mellon Professor of Humanities 1974.
         Awards: Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation, National
         Institute of Arts and Letters, National Council on Arts
         and Humanities, gold medal National Sculpture Soc, 1992.
         Worked in bronze, wood, plaster. Specialty animals, birds.
         Represented by Forum Gallery, New York City.
         Fellow, president: National Sculpture Society.
         Died Northampton, Massachusetts, 15 October 2010.
