PALMER, Erastus Dow  (1817-1904) sculptor, cameo cutter,
          patternmaker.
          Born Pompey, near Syracuse, New York, 2 April 1817.
          Many of his famous statues in permanent collections:
          Livingstone in Capitol, Washington, DC; Washington 
          Irving, New-York Historical Society; White Captive,
          Metropolitan Museum of Art
          Died Albany, New York, 9 March 1904.
