PEALE, Titian Ramsay  (1799-1885) painter, sculptor.
          Born Philadelphia, 17 November 1799.
Son of Charles Wilson Peale, brother of Franklin Peale.
George Sellers recalls that Titian Peale had prepared the
modulated relief patterns (of Thomas Sully's design) for
the Liberty Seated dollar; from which iron casts were made
for reduction on the Contamin die-engraving pantograph.
Breen accepts this, but mentions Titian only for dollar,
not other denominations of this same design.
          Died 13 March 1885.
