PRETAT, Charles E.  (1825-1895) engraver, diesinker, Waterbury.
          Born Paris, France, 1825. Trained as jewelry setter, designer
          and sculptor. Came to America 1851 to manage branch of Paris
          jewelry firm. Worked as designer for Tiffany & Co, where he
          designed "a Washington medal" (unknown which).
          Relocated to Waterbury 1874.
          Died Waterbury, Connecticut, 8 October 1895.
