BARTHOLDI, Frederic Auguste  (1834-1904) French sculptor.
            Born Colmar, Haut-Rlein, France, 2 April 1834.
            The sculptor of the Eifel Tower in Paris, and the
            statue Liberty Lighting the World, better know to the world
            as the Statue of Liberty, the French government's gift to
            America. This statue, or the head of Liberty, pictured on many
            American coins and medals, a popular topic for collectors.
            Died Paris, 4 October 1904.
