BERRYMAN, Clifford Kennedy (1869-1949) illustrater, designer, cartoonist.
Born Versailles, Kentucky, 2 April 1869.
Worked for Patent Office in Washington, did cartoons
on side until hired parttime by Washington Star, became
fulltime cartoonist there 1907. His most famous cartoon
was inspiration for "teddy bear" named after Thoedore
Roosevelt for bears ultimately to be stuffed animals.
Died Washington, DC, 11 December 1949.
