BROWN, Thomas  (fl 1800?-1848) early American seal engraver, New York City.
          Most noted for training Robert Lovett Senior in engraving
          (September 1813-1816). Otherwise Thomas Brown was a
          seal and stone engraver, a dealer in gems and Heraldic artist.
          After gaining proficiemcy Robert worked for Brown in the
          engraving business until he moved to Philadelphia 1816..
