Born Brunswick, Maine, 24 January 1808.
Commissioned officer 1829. Taught drawing at West
Point, 1833-40. Served in Florida War, 1840-41.
Painted native scenes and Native Americans.
Retired from military 1863.
Died Washington, DC, 31 August 1875.
