IVINS, Ellwood  (1823-1876) metal manufacturer, inventor,
          Waterbury, CT and Philadelphia.
          Born Burlington County, New Jersey, 1823.
          Died Philadelphia, 16 April 1876.
          Came to Waterbury 1851, established factory making
          pins, buttons, hair curlers. Patented a hair crimper that
          made him a fortune, moved to Philadelphia and
          manufactured insignia, ornaments and metallic cards.
