LAUER, Ludwig Christof. (1817- ) German engraver, medalist. Born 29 November 1817.

Nuremberg firm founded in 1729, which he developed
into a major medallic firm by 1860. He engraved many--
but not all – the firm's medallic creations and was
responsible for improving production equipment,
artistic content and marketing of medallic art in Europe.
