LUKEMAN, Augustus (1871-1935) sculptor, medalist.
Full name: Henry Augustus Lukeman.
Born Richmond, Virginia, 28 January 1871.
Noted for his relief of Robert E. Lee on Stone Mountain
near Atlanta, Georgia. His most famous medal, of course,
is the Pulitzer Prize Medal in collaboration with Daniel
Chester French, but he also did the Catskill Aqueduct
Medal and a Lafayette Plaquette with French, and a
portrait of George Eastman, all struck by Medallic Art Co.
He was recommended as an alternate sculptor to prepare
Panama-Pacific Expo commemorative coin models, but
the only coin he prepared was the 1934 Daniel Boone
commemorative half dollar.
